Inspector Soneri, the restless detective, has moved from provincial Ferrara to fast-paced Turin, where he joins a new squad and takes up with a new love. Then, as if his law enforcement and sentimental adventures not enough, he is chosen by fourteen year-old Immacolata, a wild, scheming, runaway girl, to be her stepfather. As always, Soneri’s sixth sense, his street smarts and his experience, not to mention his blunt, abrasive character, inevitably lead him to the truth: even when the truth behind a case proves hard to take, and involves people extremely close to him.
