Like Crazy (La Pazza Gioia)

Dir: Paulo Virzì (2013)

A tale of friendship that is as touching and compassionate as it is freewheeling and kinetic.

Beatrice (Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi) is a motor-mouthed fanaticist, a self-styled billionaire countess who believes she’s on intimate terms with world leaders. Donatella (Micaela Ramazzotti) is a tattooed introvert, a fragile young woman locked in her painful past. Both women are patients in Villa Biondi, a progressive psychiatric clinic in the Tuscan hills.

Like Crazy tells the unlikely and moving friendship that develops between the two as they flee the clinic.

With award-winning performances from its two leads and an exceptional screenplay that imbues its characters with honesty, humour and true emotional depth, Like Crazy is a beautiful film about two unlikely friends and their search for happiness.
